World Congress on Pain to be a Virtual Event

The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) Council has decided to move IASP World Congress on Pain in Amsterdam, 27 June – 1 July 2021 to a virtual experience, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our primary objective for cancelling the in-person event is the health and safety of our attendees, speakers, industry partners, staff and their families.

IASP recognizes the influential role the World Congress plays in your professional career and in the pain industry. That is why we are actively working on a plan for virtual education in 2021, including 2021 Congress scientific content, that will keep you informed of the latest innovative research and pain education in pain relief and connected with your colleagues worldwide. We anticipate announcing more details in early 2021.

We encourage you to access the multidisciplinary scientific content available through the IASP Virtual Series on Pain & Expo, which takes place through March 2021. The series features live and pre-recorded content, an exhibit hall, poster abstracts, networking and the opportunity to earn CE/CME. If you are registered for the 2021 Congress in Amsterdam, you already have free access to the Virtual Series content; if not, please visit the Virtual Series website for details.

Despite everything, we remain committed to sharing information and education on pain relief. Every day, new research addressing pain-related topics of importance to the pandemic are released, and we will continue making that research readily available to you.

We will resume our in-person meeting at the IASP World Congress on Pain, 19-23 September 2022, Toronto, ON, Canada; detailed information will be available in the coming months.

If you have any questions, please refer to our FAQs  or contact Congress@iasp-pain.org.
