IASP invites members and nonmembers to submit late-breaking poster abstracts to be considered for virtual presentation at the IASP 2021 Virtual World Congress on Pain. Showcase your research and your contributions to the field in a virtual environment at the premier meeting on pain.

The IASP 2021 Virtual World Congress on Pain, 9-11 June and 16-18 June 2021.

Poster Abstract Submission Requirements

  • Poster abstracts must describe original scientific or educational material that has not been previously published or presented at other national or international meetings. However, if a poster abstract was presented elsewhere only with preliminary results and complete results are now available, it may be submitted.
  • Please note that if your poster is accepted, you will be required to do the following:
  • Upload a short 3-5 minute video presentation of your research. IASP will provide recording guidelines.
  • Upload a PDF image of your poster.
  • Verify abstract and author information.
  • Abstracts must be submitted via the online submission site only. Abstracts submitted by email or fax will not be accepted.
  • Abstracts must be received by 24 March 2021 at 16:59 Eastern Time, USA. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • There are two submission types for posters: 1) Late-Breaking Abstracts (If you have a NEW abstract that was not previously reviewed for the 18th World Congress on Pain, select this option) and 2) 18th World Congress on Pain Accepted Abstracts (If your abstract was previously accepted for presentation at the 18th World Congress on Pain, please have your previous submission ID ready and select this option).
  • Presenting authors must register to attend the IASP 2021 Virtual World Congress (registration is complimentary to members). Presenters who do not register will be removed from the program.
  • The topic of posters must relate to pain research, management, education or policy. View 2021 Poster Topics.
  • Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for the abstract to be listed in the official meeting publications.
  • The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to IASP.
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English.
  • No changes will be made to accepted abstracts.
  • Notifications will be sent 15 April 2021.


Poster Abstract Form Guidelines

  • Abstract titles may be a maximum of 75 characters, with spaces. All titles should be written in title case. Capitalize all proper nouns. Use lower case for the first letter of articles, prepositions, and conjunctions of three or fewer letters.
    • e.g. Neurophysiological Methods in the Assessment of Neuropathic Pain in Humans
  • Abstracts may be a maximum of 3000 characters combined. Punctuation counts as characters. The title, author block, disclosure block (affiliations), and source of financial support are not included in the abstract count. 
  • Abstracts should clearly state:
    • Background and aims
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions
    • Any Conflict(s) of Interest
    • Source(s) of Financial Support for the Project
    • Ethical Permissions
  • Use generic names of drugs only.
  • Before you begin, prepare the following information:
    • Presenting author's contact details including email address, daytime phone, and evening phone.
    • All co-authors' contact details including first and family names, affiliation/institution name, city, and country
    • Nonmembers must include the name of an IASP member who supports the abstract submission

Poster Style Guide

Draft Abstracts: The submission form allows you to store your abstract as a draft in order to make changes. Please note that abstracts must be SUBMITTED before the deadline in order to be sent to review for inclusion in the Scientific Program.  

Submitted Abstracts: You will receive an abstract submission ID number via email after you submit your abstract. You can make changes to a submitted abstract up until the submission deadline (24 March 2021). After the deadline, no changes will be accepted.

Abstracts will be grouped into specific poster sessions based upon the scientific/clinical topics shown below. Authors must select one of the topics/subtopics.

Disclosures

Disclosure of financial relationships that the author(s) may have with the manufacturer/supplier of any commercial products or services related to the work, should be indicated in the appropriate box on the abstract form.
